I'm looking for information in regards to changing the factory settings while in manual drive. I'd like to be able to access higher gears while in low range for reduced tire slippage. Factory settings allow only 3rd gear maximum up shift, and only when the truck speed has increased enough.
Has anyone been able to do this or is there an aftermarket kit for this availability?

i have a 2022 7.3 and I'm certain that I have used more than 3 gears while in low range.
Oem.
I don't believe that I've used high gears while moving slow though.

Hey, thanks for replying. I've used all the gears, that's not the issue. I want to be able to choose... Say 5th gear while at a stand still to start out. These transmissions are programmed to only allow a start in a maximum of 2nd. This is while in low range.

maybe you should have 4.3 rear end like I do. You wouldn't slip when starting out.
Automatics are excellent actually, if you have the manual availability. Ford automatics going back many years have allowed you to start in second gear rather than low, which improves traction control. But a10 speed being limited as this model is frustrating to many of us that want full control as..."manual" actually means. I'm very happy with the transmission, I'm just hoping I can figure a way to control it better in certain conditions.

I actually agree as to why not...??? Be able to start off in 2nd, high or low...??? It certainly should be able to, even 3rd, and when you press on the skinny pedal and you go nowhere you should realize you are in the wrong gear, just like if you were in a manual transmission if you tried to start off in 3rd... I suspect the FORD Co. programmer's of this 10 speed are too eager to save us from ourselves...
