Rear camera

Every now and then when I go into reverse my camera does not work correctly. Sometimes it looks like a kind of pink colored bar code and yesterday it just went blank in reverse then after a drove a little ways it worked fine. If it would just go blank I would suspect a loose wire but with the bar code screen I suspect it could be something else. This is on my2017 F-150 XLT I have had about two months and love. This has the smaller screen not the large one and even when the camera view is messed up everything else works fine. Thanks in advance, Jim.

Disconnect the wiring harness at the plug, it's made that way so the tailgate can be easily removed. Check for corrosion and while you're there, make a baking soda/water paste and clean the connectors anyway. After that spray it out with some WD40, put a dab of dielectric grease on the connectors, the snap them back together. That's the easiest thing you can do to start with diagnosing the issue. The area where the harness connector is gets a lot of water spray or dirt/snow/salt while driving.

Good place to start, easy and cheap and could very well be the problem. I cut grass all day yesterday so will try to check this out today, won't know for sure if it is fixed for a while. It comes and goes and not really a problem that often. Jim.
