63 F100 restoration.
plan to install underdash unit and don't have a heater core for heat. Do these units create their own heat or just accommodate the heat from original heater core? If not, it's there any need at all in continuing my search for a heater core? Thanks!
Your truck is looking good! If you're talking about installing a complete, aftermarket underdash unit from a company like Vintage Air, or others similar, they all have units that are fully self contained with heater core and a/c evaporator inside, all in one. No need to add a stock heater, and in fact that would just be in the way. They'll both want to occupy the same space. https://vintageair.com/1961-64-ford-...-complete-kit/
if you are looking for a complete original under dash unit, i have some available that need restoration before they get anywhere close to that truck. Thats nice,
Well that's exactly what I needed to know. Trying to figure why old air is half the price of vintage air (maybe I'm wrong?) I will need the complete package anyway. Thanks guys for the info.
I went with Classic Auto Air for my 65 about 5 years ago. I only have 1 truck so I can't compare them to others but have been very happy with the unit.
