Maybe someone can help push my decision.....this is for a 99 F250 with a 5.4.....I have a intermittent issue when I'm accelerating above 2500ish rpm. Accelerating and especially under load like a hill or really movin. Feels like engine isnt getting fuel. Truck was an old farm truck and there's dirt everywhere. I figured sock in tank was dirty....so i put a new one on to discover an aftermarket fuel pump. I checked the fuel pressure at the rail, engine off/key on and i'm' at 15. haynes says needs 30-45 psi. i also ohm'd the injectors and 2 are at 17 where book says should be 13-15(can't remember the exact decimal point numbers).
So, is 2 ohms high on the injectors enough to say, yes they are shot?
and i dont suspect the fuel lines have any clogs and I did the fuel filter that's on the frame less than a year ago....should I assume the fuel pump is the culprit for low pressure? i also already did the fuel pressure regulator cuz it seemed easy to knock out.
I would suggest that if you're only seeing 15 psi with engine off/key on, and the spec says 30-45...yeah you're low, really low. Wouldn't surprise me if it needs a new pump.
