Hello all. I have a 03 7.3 f250 200k with manual locking hubs. When I was driving home today I got a weird vibration that feels like it’s coming from the front end. I recently had the rear driveshaft replaced and had to take out my front driveshaft due to the middle U-JOINT being bad. The vibration stops when I come to a complete stop. Starts to happen when I hit a bump. Could it possibly be my hub being bad. I had my drivers side done recently and not my passenger.
Driveline vib or death wobble vibe? Two very different animals. Sounds more like driveline as it's doing it low speeds. But you state it starts after hitting a bump which is more in line with death wobble.
Is one hub locked in and not the other??
Are all lug nuts torqued to the right lb/ft?
Grab the front wheel with them off the ground and feel for front hub bearing play. Its good practice to always replace both sides when you do hubs.
Are both shocks tight? (You have to remove them to see if they are shot).
These trucks are very sensitive to worn steering & chassis components.
Have someone move the steering wheel back n forth with the engine running, get under it grab each tierod joint and feel for slop. Any slop isn't good. Start with both ends of the drag link. At 200K you likely have slop in one or more joints.
What do you mean by front drive shaft and middle ujoint?? The shaft feeding the front axle or the front half of the rear 2-piece shaft feeding the rear axle?
Systematically check everything, beginning with the most recently serviced areas. Check all ujoints and carrier bearings. Do you know how to check ujoints? Make sure they put the ujoints together properly. Look at the joint caps. They should be in evenly and the c clips should be present. Check the saddle straps. Driveline fasteners should always be cleaned & torqued with blue Loctite upon reassembly.
Pull the shafts and articulate the joints. You are looking for bind.
So I took it to a shop and one mechanic said it was my transfer case. Also what I meant was that I don’t have the front driveshaft for the front axles to the transfer case. The rear drive line(shaft) is brand new. I think it could be my passenger hub or like you said the steering components/chassis
