Weird Electrical Events

2004 6.0 Excursion
I will need to do some more digging into this (probably start with the blinker/blower relay cause the fuses are good). My family was on the way to the beach. After a stop I noticed that the blinkers did not work (no noise, no light). The hazards, however, worked. A bit later my children complained that the AC had stopped working in the rear. They said it seemed cool when they put their hand to the vent but no air was moving (and the blower wasn't making any noise). Finally I noticed that the overhead display wasn't working anymore. I have had the overhead display repaired before with lifetime warranty on the repair. The AC in front was working. We drove it a few times at the beach for short trips. On the way home the AC was blowing cold but would only come out of the defrost even when I manually trying to change to the vent or floor. I think it is weird that all these things happened pretty much at once. Any ideas? Like I said I thought I'd look into blower/blinker relays like I said but I wondered if anyone might have any ideas as to it being anything else?

Bump this thread. I didn't get any replies. I have checked all the fuses that seemed related. I have tried replacing the flasher and rear AC blower motor relay. I have checked the few grounds in the kick panels. Nothing seems to change anything. I think it is weird that these three things went out at about the same time. If anyone has any ideas I'd love to hear them. I think the next thing I am going to do is open up the steering column to look for broken wires or disconnected connections. Other than that I am at a loss.

I have experienced the rear blower intermittently operating before, for me it was simply disturbing the fan plug (un-plug, re-plug) in the overhead controls, no issues after that.

Would that be the rear controls in the front or the rear? Thank you

The forward drivers overhead, or the long one.

Vacuum leaks always result in air only exiting the defrost vents. Need to find the leak. Many threads on how to find and fix the leak(s). Pretty easy even for a shade tree mechanic.

Seems to be more than 1 issue though. Others will chime in. Make sure both of your batteries are fully charged first. Then go from there.

Thanks…
I have new batteries but also had them checked out by the local auto store and they are OK. I checked everything in the overhead console and everything looks good up there. I opened steering column and didn’t see any broken wires or anything loose. I think my next move is to look for vacuum leaks and pull out rear blower to make sure that it is running ok. Also I will try to see if there are anymore bad grounds that I am missing.

if you just get a Clamp ON, Ammeter, you could trace out the Parasitic draw fast.

no need to tear everything apart.

The other two things that we thought it might be is the Body Control Module or Electronic control module? Any insights on these (cost is between $300-600).
Or the steering wheel multifunction switch (looks like that's about $130 or so)

For everyone's edification....I found the issue that took care of most of the issues.
It was fuse #27-Ignition Switch Run/Feed
I have no idea how that is related.
It fixed the blinkers, the rear blower issue and the overhead fuel computer/compass.
So hopefully this can help someone else in the future!

Now, the only thing that isn't working is my AC is only blowing out of the defrost vent. I will look into that more...probably a vacuum leak.
