If you have local guys, go ask around and see. Acceptable tone and style vary from each person. Hard to just say XYZ is best for you when I have not heard a Flopro
Generally, the larger the case, the quieter the unit is installed.
I was just asking preferences for those that are running the same factory exhaust.....something that sounds decent but the cops can't hear you two blocks away and come looking for you.
Nah... Magnaflow ain't bad with a cat and everyone I've heard had a nice tone that doesn't usually overstimulate. I have some sort of knockoff one on mine and it's not so loud it bothers me driving but if you wanna get wild and crazy and floor it'll get real loud. I would post a vid of mine but I can never post a vid longer than 10 seconds if that.
I used a Flowmaster Flow FX on my 4.6 F150. I know, Apple and oranges…I liked it better than a traditional flowmaster, it did not have the typical head splitting drone FM mufflers usually have.
I put a 3" stainless Magnaflow 7" round straight-through and single 3" stainless tailpipe on my previous '97 F250 7.5L. Loved the tone. Loved it so much, I'm putting the same on my '95. But since the '95 got a boost in power with the new engine, it also got a pair of mid-length headers/Y-pipe, back to the stock 3"in/out catalyst, 3"pipe to the muffler. A 3" system may be too large for a 5.8, so in that case I'd recommend a single 2-1/2" straight-through and single 2-1/2" tailpipe, although my buddy's '94 Econoline 5.8 has a single 3" tail from the factory. Ford does some weird ***** sometimes!
