Mufflers......

I have a 1991 F250 with 351W and I still have the catalytic converter on it so it's single exhaust beyond that.

For the past 20 years I've run a Flo Pro 3" in/out but it has rusted finally and I need to replace it.

I don't like LOUD, but I do like some rumble without much highway drone.

I would replace it with another Flo Pro but I cannot seem to find anyone in the USA that carries/sells what I'm looking for.

What are you guys running for mufflers on factory single exhaust?

These are as bad as oil threads!

If you have local guys, go ask around and see. Acceptable tone and style vary from each person. Hard to just say XYZ is best for you when I have not heard a Flopro

Generally, the larger the case, the quieter the unit is installed.

LOL.....never really thought about it like that.

I was just asking preferences for those that are running the same factory exhaust.....something that sounds decent but the cops can't hear you two blocks away and come looking for you.

You're not in Michigan by chance are you? I've got a couple Flow Master 70 series mufflers that are brand new.

Nah... Magnaflow ain't bad with a cat and everyone I've heard had a nice tone that doesn't usually overstimulate. I have some sort of knockoff one on mine and it's not so loud it bothers me driving but if you wanna get wild and crazy and floor it'll get real loud. I would post a vid of mine but I can never post a vid longer than 10 seconds if that.

I used a Flowmaster Flow FX on my 4.6 F150. I know, Apple and oranges…I liked it better than a traditional flowmaster, it did not have the typical head splitting drone FM mufflers usually have.

4.9 has a Flow 70 Series, I dig it. '88 302 has big magnaflow (going back to a Flow, prob 50 series) as does the 01 Screw.

I really liked old Mac Flowpaths. Hooker Aerochamber sound killer to me with near silent cruise.

Corsa is the best, bar none. Just popped for their catback on my 89 C4. Silent cruise, roars at full power. No clue if sell only muffs

I put a 3" stainless Magnaflow 7" round straight-through and single 3" stainless tailpipe on my previous '97 F250 7.5L. Loved the tone. Loved it so much, I'm putting the same on my '95. But since the '95 got a boost in power with the new engine, it also got a pair of mid-length headers/Y-pipe, back to the stock 3"in/out catalyst, 3"pipe to the muffler. A 3" system may be too large for a 5.8, so in that case I'd recommend a single 2-1/2" straight-through and single 2-1/2" tailpipe, although my buddy's '94 Econoline 5.8 has a single 3" tail from the factory. Ford does some weird ***** sometimes!

I prefer Flowmaster 40 series on a daily driver.

No muffler here, cat + glass pack. Sounds nice, not too loud. I would like to replace the cat eventually.
