I’ll add the only other codes I have are P0171 and P0174 (Bank 1 & 2 lean codes) there are no other transmission codes. OD light starts flashing when I start cruising at Highway speed.
I have been digging around and trying to figure out the best route to take and try and rectify the problem.
I have made sure it has the correct amount of fluid when hot and in park. Which is does and it’s a bit over full.
There is a slight studder thru 3rd gear which if I remember right the program for the TC is suppose to have pulsating On/Off effect in 3rd (I can be wrong just trying to remember old info from years ago)
when it shifts to 4th I really don’t get anything out of the ordinary that I feel but am cruising at about 60MPH @ 1750 rpms.
The trans temp gauge on the dash never goes any farther then half way up.
granted this is a new to me vehicle and I have just been driving it to and from work Yesterday and Today to really feel it on the highway. It does have 223K on it but the PO worked for Ford and was very meticulous about his vehicles.
From reading it sounds like my TCC solenoid may be bad or could be the fluid is old. My initial plan is a solenoid pack, fluid flush and new filter.
but I figure come and ask for diagnostic advice prior before spending money.
If the TCC solenoid was bad you'd have a code P1742, P1743, or a P1767. Since you don't have any of those three I think the TCC solenoid is fine.
This code means the converter clutch isn't working as it should. It is probably a bad seal on the input shaft, or a bad converter.
If I am going to go that far, when you say input shaft seal do you mean the split ring on the input shaft? I just wanna have everything together for when I do the job.
