I have a NP 435 4 speed with granny low. I was deriving and heard a clunk and a couple miles after that I was stuck in 2nd gear. I tried starting the truck in gear and nothing. When i was started and put in reverse the truck would die. I put it in first gear and it started but would drive and couldn't change gears. I don't know what to do. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thank you

Hard to tell anything by your statement,
Few questions::
Does the engine start in neutral, if so how does it sound
How does the clutch feel,, strong as usual, or does it go to the floor easy
when in neutral, and the clutch is pushed in slowley, does it make any sounds or smoothe and quiet
Got more but this should get things started.

ok so yes the engine starts in neutral. The engine sounds good except my timing is at TDC. I believe it suppose to be around six or so. When in neutral and the clutch is pushed in slow there’s a slight swooshines but it is quiet. The pedal has not had much firmness since I’ve owned. I was not able to start in a gear because the truck would die once in gear. The other day I put in 2nd and the truck started but was moving. I could not change the gear once rolling.
Well, one more question, when you say you were driving and heard a noise, was you pushing the clutch in or just driving down the road.
If you were just driving and heard the noise, well then re read tbear's idea. time to pull trans and see what happened.
If you were pushing the clutch in MAYBE something broke in the clutch linkage. If not, still time to tear it apart to see...Not being there it is impossible to tell, just passing on ideas......
I am not a mechanic nor did I sleep in a Holiday inn last nite these are just my .02 worth of ideas.. lol
Let us on here know what you find
