Modern concepts of what Priests should or should not do scare me. I am a Templar, a militant and war like Priest.. I am supposed to have weapons. If you are troubled by it, tough. I am me, I am what I am, and I am not condemned by God, just you.

probably not the exact quote but close "put your trust in the lord, but keep your powder dry!!!"...I have always believed god helps those who try to help themselves the best they can...and that means being prepared for ANYHING

willowbilly3- the AR15 just happens to be my rifle of choice, thats all. i know it like the back of my hand it seems, and even with my poor vision i can out shoot most people with scoped rifles, when i use standard military iron sights.

to me, the rifle is easy to maintain, ammunition is light and can be very suitable for small game, and yes, pretty durable.

the shotgun on the other hand, i can use 1- ounce slugs for large game, and could even use pellets for birds/rabbits.

not trying to offend you here, just trying to help you understand my thoughts i guess? dont want to start a thread war.

To make better my point, I must remind those who choose to be concerned. Had it not been for MY ORDER, not one like it, but my Order, NONE of you would be Christian - the world would have been taken over by Islam, in the 11th, 12th and 14th centuries. The Templars instigated the two famous Crusades, to defend Christianity against attack, as well as the three not so well publicised ones. Therefore, without my historic brethren, there would be no Churches here at all. The Templars are one of the instruments of defense the Church has had through the ages.. I carry on that tradition, with full military training, and experience. I carry it on also through teaching people the need to defend against any that would change your life. I teach self defense, rifle and shotgun defensive classes, pistol classes, CCW requirements, and attacking techniques. Yes, I will kill to defend myself, and anyone who cannot defend themselves, no I will never kill to save a tv set, or a truck.

As usual, I am not trying to offend anyone, but probably will.

Theo, sorry if I was condeming you. Just questioning the whole "Be ready to head for the hills" thing. Each one of us is a sum total of our lifes experiences. Thankfully all different. I understand your background a little, so I can understand why you tend to be militant. That doesn't mean I have to agree with it. After reading "Wild at Heart" I even understand man's competitive tendancys and warrior spirit. I just think if you really trusted God like I think a seeker of Him should, then you would have got past the whole chicken little thing. As a Christian I will stay behind and help the needy while you head for the hills IF the s--t ever really does hit the fan. Some warriors can't live without a battle to fight, real or imagined. This I understand and as long as you don't interfere with anyone elses pusuit then I see no harm.

Speaking of living somewhere where there are no restrictions.....

Me and some friends just built a small log cabin a little ways behind my house. You cant live there, but you could camp there for a week or so (I already have). And you dont have to have a hunting liscense here if you are on your own private property and show proof (If a warden happens to come around.... .01% chance) that the game you are hunting is considered pests.

I don't really think you are nuts, and this whole thing may be alot closer than any evidence in my realm would indicate. I just grew up on the open range and enjoy my freedom where I find it. Life is full of compromises and man is quite capable of adapting to them usually. And even if our society does degenerate to that level it will continue to be a slow erosion for most of us. One thing our government knows is that they can get away with anything they choose as long as they keep us fat and happy. Also with todays technology it would be nearly impossible to hide anywhere.
I am ready to head to the house when the Boss calls me in. Meanwhile I will continue to press on.

Billy, I did not choose my calling. God did. I did not choose my training, God did. I do not choose my schedule, God does. How else can I trust the Lord, who gave me all. I have my inner convictions, Given by God, not thought up by me. I know this because HE has saved my skin on many occasions, and always sent me back to fight. He has stopped a bullet, at my skin, fired by a rifle 100 feet away, and made it so I could continue the fight. When life becomes subject to the fan syndrome, the first three weeks will be the worst, and I KNOW I am supposed to help afterwards, so I will retreat to the hills, not flee, but retreat, because this is what my Lord has trained me to do ALL of my life. What you think a seeker of Him should do fortunately is your opinion, and not in any way relevant to my circumstance. I will therefore agree not to agree with you, and thank you to concern yourself with your salvation, and the direction God wants you to go, and leave my salvation, and my direction to God, and me. To inform me of your opinion, judging me to be untrusting of God is not becoming of a Christian.. Judge not, least you be judged and found wanting.....

Again, I mean no offense.

As a christian, you will be killed and all of your food/possesions will be pillaged. No offense.

The AR-15 is used to hunt everything from small varmints at 400 yards to deer at 100-150. If you plan on protecting what is yours, a FAL/AK/AR will be a better choice than a lever action .30-30. But thats just me.

Most of us will never know ahead of time what fate will bring. As long as I trust God, then I will be right where he wants me to be or He will lead me where I am supposed to go. And I will be on this earth until the very moment He calls me home. Nothing can happen to me unless God allows it. Does all this mean that I just sit on my butt and do nothing? Of course not. But the big picture to me is staying right with God as much as I can. If I thought there were preparations in order, I would of course prepare.

Mathew 6:26-27 states "Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?
Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature?

While it may sound like I would just blindly sit here and be taken over, that couldn't be further from true. By my very nature I always have a way out in my mind and a very keen sense of danger. I never sit with my back to the door. I never pull up to another car at a stop light without leaving room to swing out. I don't even have to think about it most of the time. I am always alert to everything that is going on around me and I notice everyone where ever I go. God has given me a very adequate sense of self preservation.

Theo, your last post is what I would expect to hear from someone who is truly seeking God's will in their life and trusting Him. I wonder why you have to be confronted for that to come out.

And deersniper, why would anyone kill me for my food if I freely offered to share what I have with the hungry?
