"What is this metal piece?"
Ok, so needed to change the bulbs in my high mount center brake light on our 94 F150 XL.
Upon getting the lighting assembly off this metal piece just fell out and I for the life of me can't figure out how it goes back in. Any suggestions or a photo would be greatly appreciated.
Also, any hints on best place to get new light sockets... looks like the old ones are still working but noticably cooked / burnt looking. I wasn't able to find a place that sold replacement sockets, unless I'm horrible at my searching (which could be). Thanks again. Metal piece from inside 3rd brake light
It goes over the top of the center bulb. Those tabs should be flat. There would've been plastic rivet welds (not sure what else to call them) in the holes to hold it in place.
Ok, thank you, I'll give that a try. It's strange because the tabs are bent at the same angle, meaning they don't look like someone bent them earlier, they look purposely bent. But I'll try to get it to fit over the center light.
Thanks!
Indeed they do appear to be machine bent. It's possible there was a design change somewhere, but on the 94 and 96 models that I've seen, the tabs are flat.
