Yo!
I had a weird melting of wires under my dash, my fault... Totally a different story!
It melted very few wires but the one that pisses me off is the 4WD indicator light...
It mounts below the dash and glows a blue 'LOCKED' panel when in 4x4....
I've never seen another F100 with this light and neither has anyone else I've asked?
The wiring harness has a Ford tag that reads: D5TB 13 A705 AD..... Those are open to interpretation as the tag is pretty toast!
Any help?!
1976 F100 4x4 shorty. 390(now) auto
Those were for trucks with the fulltime NP203 transfer case. I'm not sure if all of those trucks had them or not. It's not mine, but there may be one on ebay right now. https://www.ebay.com/itm/23565939237...Bk9SR6T-9cOjZA
Just bought it! Thanks!
Full time NP203, my F100 is not full time, at least what I'm thinking of...
It's got low range, high range and neutral. Am I being dumb?
Now I gotta hope my light isn't toast!

NP 205 is "part time" in that it's not to be run on hard surface in 4wd hi or low with locked or fixed hubs as if in a 4wd mode, both front and rear drive shafts are locked to the same speed. In 2wd it only passes power to the rear drive shaft..
NP 203 is "full time" ... it is the chain drive one that has a means through an internal differential of allowing different front vs rear drive shaft speeds so it can always be in a 4wd mode, the 4wd selector serves to lock front and rear drive shafts to the same speed. Unless modified by kit, the NP 203 always puts power to both front and rear drive shafts.
NP 205 has no light ... NP 203 has the light because if a driver forgets and leaves the 4wd locked, there are no locking hubs OEM, and road use will ruin it .... just like if a NP 205 were left in 4hi or 4lo with hubs locked.
A truck with a NP 203 in unlocked mode and which has open front and rear differentials can have just one wheel on ice (example) and not be able to move away from a pole as the one wheel spins on the ice.
So I may have a 203 with locking hubs? Good gawd I thought I knew what I had!
I've had this truck for over 30 years! LOL.
What is a for sure way to check which I have? I can easily look under the truck...

If you have locking hubs, yes, you could still have a NP-203. They sold kits to convert FT to PT. I never saw a light on one with a NP-205.
This is instruction with NP-203 Full Time
This is instruction with NP-205 Part Time
***** look different too
I do not have a picture of a NP-203, but it looks a good deal different than a NP-205 (below). Case differs because 203 uses a chain, not just gears like a 205.
What @tbear853 said. Many people got conversion kits for the NP203 and put in locking hubs so they could unlock the front and increase gas mileage. If your light worked, I'd expect you have a NP203 case. I don't think the NP205 even has wiring to connect the light to.
Looks like a NP 203! You can see where the wire connects in the 5th picture!
Thanks for the replies guys!
I need to order an assembly manual, can anyone find a part number for the indicator light by chance?
