I purchased the below items from LMC to replace the broken and tired original steering wheel.
The instructions are terrible and I have tried watching a couple of videos, but still having an issue because the pre-wired install kit contains 1 wire...and the connector is slightly smaller than either two of the prongs on the horn button. Does anyone have experience installing this kit on a 1975 F150?
Your main problem is that the horn button terminal is slightly smaller? Go get one that fits, cut and splice, or file the male side down a little bit on the one you have.
The horn needs two connections. A 12V supply and a ground. Who cares what they sent you? If it doesn’t work then change it. Find a way to make those two connections and you’re done.
The issue is there is not a clear instruction on where a second wire would even go or where the contactor ring goes in the installation sequence. Im looking for someone with experience installing this exact setup that LMC sells.
Have you called LMC? In the interim get a multimeter and test to see which terminal goes to ground. My horn (Budnik brand) is grounded by one of the bolts that holds the wheel to the hub. There is one wire for the 12V connection that goes to a terminal. White is ground. Red is 12V.
Got the steering wheel wired up, but now I'm getting just a clicking noise from the relay (video attached) when I try and start the engine...any thoughts?
You have some wire connections crossed to cause your brake light to flicker. That or your battery is struggling and you have the Parking brake set. Your horn didn't work before this exercise did it? The horn relay has three wires, one is attached at the starter relay on the fender, the other goes to the turn signal cluster below the dash and the last one goes to the horns. Did the directions say you mav have to add a ground wire to the hub? When you press the horn button it gives the circuit the ground.
The steering wheel is from "Forever Sharp"
