I have a 2001 f150 xlt. I can't get the right paint color with the paint code. It shows two different tintings according to the paint store. One is too light and the other is to dark. The paint store said ford must have changed the paint code. I want to paint in the spring, but I want this color not the other two. What do I do.
The paint stores equipment must be off calibration or the truck was repainted at some point with a modified mix. IMHO, most paint shops and autobody repairs shops have a spectrophotometer...... in short it's a scan tool that looks like a camera deep into the paint and will give the paint "mixer" the codes to get the mix right....typically the 1st time.....it's very simple and easy to do for anyone experienced with paint pixing/matching.!
