Looking to replace the t18 as I don't feel like rebuilding the current one. Only one available has a 4-in extension, but I have a 12-in currently. Can I get the 4-in trans and just bolt my 12-in up to it?
I am guessing the 4" is from a 4x4 and your 12" a 4x2?
I would say no.
It should bolt to the bell housing but the output is all wrong.
This is my old T18 4x2 and the housing looks longer then 12", too hot in garage to go measure.
The NP435 measured the same, was from a 4x2 truck and used the same slip yoke at the transmission so it was a bolt in if I did not add the over drive.
NP435
Now if it is a 4x4 trans like yours, if thats what you got, they say all transfer cases will bolt up but with the shorter adapter the drive shafts will need to be changed and maybe the 4x4 shift linkage?

It is a 4x2. Doesn't sound like it's going to work. How much you want for your t18? LOL
Oh you dont want it, its got chipped teeth, worn out syncros and made a lot of noise.
I did not know that till I got it on the road as I never drove it but a short test drive and thought most of the trans issues was clutch linkage.
And yes the linkage was really bad too.
It is a project for down the road with others I have
