Anyone using a Cold Case 2 row radiator with extra wide rows (1.25")? I have a 302 with ac, automatic, and power steering. with each having a cooling apparatus sitting in front of the radiator. The existing radiator is a Chinese 3 row with a shroud and a 16" electric fan. It works fine in moderate heat as long as I don't sit at a light too long. With the ac on, forget it. I thought about putting in a 4 row but I have been reading that a wide core 2 row cools better. Just trying to confirm this before spending the big bucks.
Late to the party. I have a different set up and had cooling problems as well. Called Champion rad and talked to a rep there. Turns out the fan was the problem, not pulling in enough air. Changed fans and have not had a problem since. Fan was not pulling enough air.
I currently am running a 16" fan. The cheap fan that came with my shroud didn't seem to run very fast or pull a lot of air so I bought a Flex-A-Lite 105390 Flex-Wave LoBoy Puller which theoretically pulls 3000 cfm.of air. I have purchased the 2 row Cold Case unit with the 1.25" rows and hopefully this fixes my issue. My original 3 row radiator was only 1 1/2" wide (three 1/2" rows) while the new unit is 2 1/2" wide. With the a/c condenser, trans cooler, and power steering cooler sitting out front, there is limited free air flowing thru the radiator alone.
