Firewall Ground

Hello,

This is my first post here. I've been in a Mustang forum for the past few years.
I just acquired a "original" 1965 F100, 240, 3 on the column.

Going through the grounds and battery cables for replacement, I came across a 15" ground on the driver side lower firewall that was attached to nothing.

Where does it go?

I have seen posts about the intake or throttle bracket, however this wont reach that far. I assume its the original cable as it is highly corroded and insulation missing.

I’ve owned two Ford trucks, a 59 and now a 66. Both had essentially this set-up : battery to engine block, cab firewall to engine block, frame to engine block. It works well, occasionally have had to clean up body grounds at individual loads over the years. If you cn, post a photo of said ground wire.

Original cable on my 1966 F250 4x4 300 4 speed. Goes to the top corner bolt on the bell housing. The C5TB on there indicates 1965. Cab is a little different than the 2WD trucks.

On the later trucks (my 81 F100) that wire from the firewall goes to a boss on the side of the head or block or that is where I put mine as both my trucks did not have any when I got them.
On the 80's v8 trucks they say either back of head or intake bolt.
Being both are pretty big I guess a bell housing bolt could be where it went?
Grounds are good

Itsasixty5 - WELCOME TO FTE !

Don't forget to clean/rough up the surface for the ground to bare metal to ensure a good contact.
Then once fastened, I like to spray a bit of CRC Marine Corrosion Inhibitor to the site to protect/seal it.

Attachment locations are up to the discretion of the owner. Over the years, ground wires and cables have been removed or moved during repairs, upgrades and modifications. Just remember that you can never have too many grounds. Engine to frame, engine to firewall or cab, core support to frame, etc.
