dae: When you get into that class of truck you can order whatever engine you want in it, like a Transport, you can get a CAT, Cummins, Detroit....etc whatever you want. I think a F-550 setup to look like a 350 dually with a big CAT in it would do quite well in the truck pulls

Or....maybe......they figured the F-650 would get REAL work so they wanted a REAL diesel.

See....there I go again.

My neighbor is a dodge 30 yr tranny mech. he wont leave dodge because there is tooooo much work in the shop, he would tell you point blank dodge cant make a tranny and you will buy a new one by 65k ,by the way he drives a dodge 3500 and would only buy it with a stick because he knows, fact

Gah I hate hearing all this Dodge transmission crap.. the 46RE was a piece of absolute garbage, unforunate because it was the most common one. It's the tranny that came with the 1/2 ton V8s (5.9L and 5.2L), as well as the Dakota and Durango. The 47RE, which I believe was the auto for 2500/3500 V8s and V10s were considerably stronger, though still not the greatest. But now we're talking brand new trannies for the 4.7 and 5.7 V8s; the old ones are gone. At least give the new ones a break, I haven't heard anything anything about them crapping out at 40k miles yet.

I come to these ford sites to get info. when tinkering with my ford. I sometines wonder thru other threads just out of boredom and curiousity. I can't believe all the whining! I've got a 93 dakota with 207,000 with the 3.9 and automatic. Had overdrive rebuilt at 157,000 engine never be in to.
Are you expressing facts or just "big fat claims"?
Oh, I have a neighbor who has a brother who's cousins nephew had a Tr3, he drove it 318,000 miles never even had an alternator go out. Man them's good cars!!!

I found a dodge diesel site last night, TURBO DIESEL REGISTER. and was suprised to find out the mighty cummins is not without faults. BLOWN HEAD GASKETS,SCORED PISTONS ON #6 CYL. BAD LIFT PUMPS, ETC.ETC.drive what ya like and be happy.
I would never own anything but a ford, but I have spent a lot of time with cummins tractor motors and have been impressed. So this would be the ultimate www.fordcummins.com
