dae: When you get into that class of truck you can order whatever engine you want in it, like a Transport, you can get a CAT, Cummins, Detroit....etc whatever you want. I think a F-550 setup to look like a 350 dually with a big CAT in it would do quite well in the truck pulls

Yeah....you're right. Ford must own Cummins. Or....maybe......they figured the F-650 would get REAL work so they wanted a REAL diesel.

See....there I go again.

Does Ford own Cummins?

No, Ford does not own any part of Cummins Inc.

The 47RE, which I believe was the auto for 2500/3500 V8s and V10s were considerably stronger, though still not the greatest. But now we're talking brand new trannies for the 4.7 and 5.7 V8s; the old ones are gone. At least give the new ones a break, I haven't heard anything anything about them crapping out at 40k miles yet.
56 000 miles on my 2000 4x4 Dakota. tranny works great. absolutely no problems I tow 2 trailers. oen weighs 3000 the other abotu 6K.. the motor is good also. I do have a ticking sound from the timing chain tensioner but other than that its great. good power. Dodge does have quality problems
ive had axle problems and some sensors go bad on the motor which cost a lot ot fix. would I buy a dodge again. Not on your life. too many stupid things that broke and cost a bundle to fix.

I come to these ford sites to get info. when tinkering with my ford. I sometines wonder thru other threads just out of boredom and curiousity. I can't believe all the whining! I've got a 93 dakota with 207,000 with the 3.9 and automatic. Had overdrive rebuilt at 157,000 engine never be in to.

Are you expressing facts or just "big fat claims"?

Oh, I have a neighbor who has a brother who's cousins nephew had a Tr3, he drove it 318,000 miles never even had an alternator go out. Man them's good cars!!!

Just curious-is there a Dodge forum simialar to this site somewhere on the net? My friend has a '78 Ramcharger and gets jealous every time I talk about FTE. He wants to find a site like this for his Dodge.

I would never own anything but a ford, but I have spent a lot of time with cummins tractor motors and have been impressed. So this would be the ultimate www.fordcummins.com
