Hey guys, quick question. I have an 03 Ford Expedition Eddie Bauer 4x4 I found this Electrical Plug Attached to radiator core support on the passenger side in front of windshield washer reservoir. I'm not sure what it's for, and I couldn't find anything online about it. What is it for? THANKS!
I searched the F5AB-14A666-A and found a couple other threads. One was somebody else asking the same question about their 03 Expy - no answer. Another was a Super Duty that had this plug toward the back and it ended up being the connector for trailer wiring. I'm wondering if this connector under the hood is to control vehicle lights when flat towing, or run turn signals on a front attachment like a snow plow.
Interesting. That's quite wasteful to include it without using it for 4 years!
I believe it was offered on early production Gen2's but canceled because of overheating issues due to the design of the front facia, not enough airflow.
One of the reasons the Gen3 frontend was opened up for more airflow allowing the use of the electric fan clutch. Still didn't do anything for gas mileage though.
I'm only asking because I don't understand, but how would the Mechanical Fan clutch work fine and the electric fan clutch cause overheating issues? Again it's just not making sense in my mind but, I'm a young guy don't know much 😂 so please don't take offense!

Good info. In that case, I won't spend time thinking about a retrofit. I wonder if there is signal to the connector that could be used to signal electric fans. I really thought about doing that conversion when I replaced the radiator.
