What could cause this kind of buildup I'm seeing for the intake valve? Any cause for concern as I refurbish? The other head they were all decent, as are the remaining 3 on this head.
Stock 302. Head/intake manifold gasket were intact. This is cylinder #4. The cylinder and piston look identical to the other 7.
i'd be taking a good look at that cylinders valve guide wear,the bore, and rings, as what i see is a lot of OIL , always going to be carbon on the intake thanks to the cams valve overlap pushing un burnt gas back at the intake ,but thats way excessive

I soaked it all down with some WD40 prior to taking the pic. It was bone dry prior when I took the valves out. Planning to clean it up later.

Looks like that engine sat around for a long time and that intake port got water in it.
The engine did sit for about 25 years. Its ran as recent as a couple of months ago, but not very well.
