So this morning in my frantic need to do a K turn and skip around an accident, a telephone pole jumped in front of my rear bumper and gave me a little tap. Don't worry, the pole is fine, but hey, I have an excuse to get a new bumper because the plastic and tinfoil just isn't robust enough to resist push.
I have a stock 2019 4x4 King Ranch.
With zero experience in this space, I'm seeking recommendations for trustworthy brands for something along these lines.
I used to work in that field, retail and manufacturing.
Some brands to look at are Ranch Hand, Frontier Gear, Steelcraft and Hammerhead. Those are off the top of my head.
The factory bumper caps/ends are pretty flimsy and not up to handling even light impacts. With that in mind, I need to put a better bumper on mine. I have a ding or two, but I know of I put it off longer that an impact ouutside the frame rail will crunch the bedside. I’ve seen it, and it doesn’t take a lot for that to happen.
Thanks... the plastic is toast and the underlying metal wouldn't bear weight if straighten out. I'm going to use the excuse to get a nice looking bumper.
I bought a Rough Country based on feedback from a couple of buddies.
Not bad bumpers, but the E coat finish is weak and will show rust before winter is over. Paint it with some Rustoleum truck bed liner paint before you mount it. It will give it a nice textured matte black finish.
NewXer, I have a guy here in town where I live that does one helluva job powder coating. Might be a solution for you. He's done work for me and does a nice job.
OR, maybe there's someone close to you that could powder coat for you.
