I don't know how many trucks came with the option. I do know it was not many. The marketing was aimed more at contractors rather than RV customers. Remember, this was before there were effective power inverters so it would make sense for a contractor that needed to have a job site power source (although, at 2KW it wasn't a lot of power).
I'd like to know what the option cost. My "guess" is it was probably a fairly expensive option. At the time Onan was considered the "Cadillac" of auxiliary generators. Even today they still have an excellent reputation and, currently, owned by Cummins.
