Turbo flutter
I just bought a 2015 Expedition with the 3.5 l EcoBoost. The turbo sounds weird to me. I used to own a Dodge Cummins so I'm no stranger to turbos. So when I give it enough gas to start hearing the turbo it sounds like it's sucking air through a paddle wheel boat or something. It doesn't sound like smooth turbo whine. So after this I started doing some searching and did the 'silencer ring' removal thinking that might be the cause of it. It gave me a little more turbo noise (which I like anyway) and it kind of removed that flutter but not completely. From doing some research I think I found out that the twin turbos are spinning in different directions. So maybe that has something to do with it. So does anybody know why I'm getting that fluttering noise?
On a separate issue, what's the best bang for the buck way to get even more turbo noise out of this thing? (Intake side) Airbox mods? Cold air intake?
