Turbo Spinning???

When I park my truck and get out it sounds like an airplane engine spinning down. is this normal? is it just the turbo spinning down? I think it is cool and when friends ask I smile and say it is the "Turbo" in "Turbo Diesel"

Doesn't sound right to me. I have a bunch of freind and a brother with diesels and no turbo noise. Only under boost. You need to find out whats making the racket. IMHO

Mine has done it since new it is the turbo spooling down. Since it is driven by air there is no way to make it stop after you shut down.

Now my 7.3 did this only after I put my tymar type setup on it and the 6.0 does it all the time, I think that it has something to do with the air intake setup.

My '05 6.0 does it. The first couple of times I even gave it a little pedal as I shut it off, because my son really thought it was cool to listen to.

Keep in mind that you're keeping the turbo spinning and turning off the oil flow. I'd be very careful that you don't cook your turbo doing that...

dont do that it is bad for the turbo, you want the the turbo to be spinning as little as possible when you turn of the motor...the sound is normal.

you coke your turbo bearings from shutting it off when it is too hot (like after pulling a load or hard driving), burping the throtle a little is not going to hurt anything.
