Code B1305:01 Hood switch

Hello all; 2012 F150 3.5; I am getting this code when scanning, tried erasing but it will not go away. I do not have remote start nor can I find a hood switch anywhere under the hood.

Any ideas why this error code is being thrown and how to resolve it? Thanks!

Should be a hood switch on the driver fender about mid way down from the windshield. Has a rubber accordion boot on it. Unplug and reconnect it a few times and see if the code goes away. Also ALL 2011-2014 F150's have remote start from the factory. Some of them don't come turned on requiring a dealer trip to have it activated, the hardware is already there.

Some vehicles have the hood switch built into the hood latch. Look for a connector on the hood latch.

Not this generation of F150. It's on the fender or not at all.

So I found the problem!

I poked around in the engine bay behind the coolant tank and I luckily found the entire hood switch and bracket laying in there! I just had the truck repaired due to a fender bender so I'm not sure if the repair shop did not put it back on or it was not there in the first place. I suspect the second reason because I only had the truck for like 2 weeks before it was hit and these guys did a great repair job...before that I noticed some sloppy body work and repairs. SO...I remounted the switch and now all is well, no codes! Thank you to everyone for your help, your comments helped me dig around in the right area to find the missing parts! (I hope I mounted it correctly).

Yup looks right at home, snapped a pic of mine from the factory. Bought her new, never been wrecked.

My 2010 Platinum doesnt have one at all, I guess because it wasnt equipped with remote start that year.

It was my understanding that they all came with one, mine doesn't have remote start either.

The remote start feature was introduced in 2011 when Ford changed the entire platform for newer technology, meaning same skin, new brains, new engines, new electronics in every imaginable way and new features that can be activated with the click of a mouse.

See above explanation and inquire further if you would like to activate remote start on your truck.

I have detailed files.
