1989 F150 4WD 4.9L 5speed. Just got an OBD1 code reader and I'm getting code 67. "NPS Neutral Pressure Switch circuit failure, circuit open." (3.0L MAP, 3.0L MAF-SFI, 3.8L SFI.
That's all it says in the Fault Code Definitions. When I google neutral pressure switch all I get is neutral "safety" switch. Is that the same thing?
These 4.9L trucks with manual transmission are looking for the clutch interlock switch during testing. Hold the clutch in while running the tests. Code 67 will most likely go away.
Thanks My4, Yes I have the same one I just didn't read far enough before doing the test. There's nothing wrong with my switch. Starts fine with clutch depressed and no fire with clutch out. I'm really chasing an intermittent miss that may only occur every 3 days or may do it twice in one day. Truck doesn't actually die but feels like it for 1/10 of a second. Truck will jar, like running over a cable in the road. Changed every sensor I can find to no avail. I got this reader hoping it would tell me something new.
Thanks
Did your code come from the KOEO test or KOER. If KOEO was the code shown first or later in the same test but in Memory?
Information on what this means is in the manual. Read about clearing Memory code. I had the same code in Memory which means the problem happened but is not currently active. I erased mine and it has not come back.
Then read about the KOER test that should be done after clearing KOEO codes. This should help you test more thoroughly and accurately.

Could be a slowly clogging fuel filter. When this gen starts to rust out a tank, the filter can fill up quick & often.
I'd put a fuel pressure gauge on it that you can see driving.
I'd look at the PIP in the distributor & clean the trash off the magnet.
