New boat trailer......
My boat comes in around 2400 pounds.
They gave me a 7 pin round adapter that only has 4 spades and the center, for a total of 5 connections, but the flat plug on the trailer has 6, with different colors but for two brown ones that appear as separate when looking at the back of the pug where they enter, however they are side by side.....
My truck does not acknowledge the trailer, no gain adjustment, etc....
When I squeeze the brake controller it says trailer disconnected.
All the functions on the trailer appear correct as to turning, braking, running lights, and if I disconnect the plug, I can't back up, as the trailer brakes lock.
This is all new to me, does this seem right?
Do I need a 7 round to 6 flat adapter?
I noticed after pulling my boat just a few miles to the ramp the left wheel on the trailer seemed too hot, the hub and I believe the rubber of the wheel itself?
I have a call into the dealer, but I am hoping someone here my school me too.....Thanks.
You don't have gain like a travel trailer, they are surge brakes that activate when the trailers pushes on the tow vehicle, which act like a brake pedal.....applying pressure to the trailer brakes.
Which explains why when towing to the ramp, a steep down hill decent of a half mile, the wheel is hot, duh.
I think he all is working as it should and I guess the reason why my truck (F-250 Super Duty) doesn't acknowledge trailer is because I am not using that pin on my 7 pin to 5 (6) flat connector.
