My bed kit didn't come with pads, and my original bed either didn't have them or they were long gone when I got it. What you see between my crossmembers and the frame are square steel washers.
I assembled my bed on the truck. When I got to here:
and took the 2x4s out, I saw the middle crossmembers weren't sitting on the frame. I added the square washers to fill the space. I suggest you do the same.
Either assemble your bed and sit it on the frame and see where you need what pads, or assemble it on the frame, like I did, and see where they're needed.
Pappy 53, How i spent my day today. Gonna finish up tomorrow. I have a rear mounted gas so it was "challenging" and time consuming trying to get those 10 carriage bolts in the center installed. Going to finish tomorrow after church. Let me know if i can help you.
Where do the bed seals go? Why is there no good instructions videos showing installation of 53-56 f100 trucks?
Are you talking about the 1" X 6 1/2 foot rubber strips, if so they go between the bed side bottom and on top of the boards, if it the small square patches of rubber they go on top of the frame and in between the cross rails..pretty straight forward..
