Front axle issues
99 450 4x4 my front passenger axle shaft is sloppy it hits the lower ball joint if it spins the actual axle joint is fine. Look at part breakdowns that I can find I’m not finding what parts could have failed to allow this. Wheel bearing aka hub assembly doesn’t seem loose. Any guidance would be great.

Only thing I could attribute that is to a bad needle bearing un the hub unit. Been a while since I tore my 99 apart but basically the axle is supported on the inner end by the diff 3rd member and on the outer end by the axle/needle bearing in the inner end of the unit hub. If that axle bearing is shot which is not out of the question it would allow the axle to wobble around. Enough to hit the BJ? never heard of that one. Whats the mileage on the truck? That axle bearing can be had for under $10 but the unit bearings do go south as well. I did mine at 145K miles as one basically seized up. There was 2 lines of Ford parts to be had, one was Ford in a blue white box and the other was Motorcraft in a red and white box IIRC. Got them off scamazon for $200 a side or so.
