All parts stores have them. SInce your truck is a '90, it's ECCIV/OBDI. You should need to pay more that $35 for one.

The only reader I ever bought was for GM with OBDI. Basically the same type you will find for these. All it did was jump the connections so you could watch the CEL flash. A $30 rip off.

On the newer OBDII readers I've seen they actually have a readout. I'm sure this is the kind you want but afraid they don't make one with the reaout for them??

There is defintely an obdI/EECIV code reader for Ford that has digital readout and also stores the codes for future reference. Should be < $35 at any parts store. Just tell them it's for a 1990 Ford. That reader will handle all Fords up thru 1995.

Mine is an Innova 3145. It works on Fords 81-95 and has digital readout and memory. Pretty simple to use, no counting flashes. I got this one through JC Whitney for around 32 bucks. They make an extension cable for it that I wish I'd gotten, It's tough to watch it and do the koer tests when you're alone.
