It looks like I Do need that part you have benbuilder, But First..... I will be back to the truck in a day or two and i am going to trace that control rod/cable to find what **** it is connected to.
I also am going to try to find where the HEAT **** is located somewhere under the dash, I hope. I want to make sure I have both TEMP and HEAT ***** to mount into your bracket.

The HEAT ****/cable would go to the valve on your passengers inner - I can see that end of the cable so like you say just trace that into the cab where it seems to go. The TEMP lever controls a flapper inside of the plenum like you guessed. It controls how hot you want it inside the cab. Most people turn off the valve on the fender or intake manifold in the summer so hot water isn't cycling through the heater core which can still heat the cab some. Not good on a hot day.

In that picture with the blue arrow, is the arrow pointing to the Horn Relay?

Just out of curiosity, the defrost is still located in the switch with the fan control? My '62 F100 does not have the temp or water control, it has the manual valve for the hot water. Also, I take it on this model there is a flapper controlled by the TEMP **** in the heater box itself??

Thank you,
Tom

Take a look at the **** at the fart right - mine is a "off, low, high" speed fan and the fan also works as it is supposed to.
And... that **** also reads to: "pull for defrost".

my truck is a 1962 F250 - Does your truck have the same?

To your last question..... Yes Sir

I worked on the truck for 7 hours today. Tried to figure out the horn system so I pulled the horn button and then pulled the steer wheel. I checked for any voltage coming in to the steer wheel horn area and found none, I assume there is supposed to be steady current going to the horn button area as the horn can be honked without the ignition key on, is this correct?

steer wheel removed

Then I went to the Horn Relay and tried to unplug it to remove and check out. That when I discovered the extreme corrosion at the plug in. The one tang broke off and it took me quite I while to get it out of the plug.

I checked for any power to any of those 3 wires and there was none.

Shouldn't there be power all the time, somewhere in the horn system, without the ignition key on?

I could not find a hot spoke Anywhere in the horn system up to the horn relay.

The solid Yellow wire provides constant power to the horn relay from the battery. The Blue-Yellow wire provides the ground to the horn relay through the horn button. The Yellow-Green wire provides the higher current to the horn(s) directly from the battery when the relay is closed. The horn(s) is/are grounded through the housing to the core support.

Thank You Sir

Questions if you know:

1) In the steer wheel pictures... am I missing wiring that goes from the the steer column where the steer wheel bolts down up thru the steer wheel hole and into the steer button area? Many years ago I worked on a few old school steer wheels similar to this set-up and thought i remember this wiring as part of the horn button area. (Now that I think about it I will open my newly purchased Repair Manual and see if it has any answers to my questions).

2) I am thinking RockAuto to replace the Horn Relay and the 3 pin/plug wiring connector that plugs into the Horn Relay?
Any other sites that might carry these older replacement parts?

3) regarding that Hot Wire..... it should be hot All The Time, whether ignition switch is On or Off correct?

1. Section 13 pages 8 and 9 in the 1961 shop manual should answer most of that.
2. RockAuto is probably fine, but they only deal in aftermarket reproductions. I prefer NOS parts but that's personal preference. Search eBay for B8C-13853-A and you can see the selection there.
3. Correct.

Pg. 13-9 The picture shows 2 plates but only describes one of them. I have just the one Lower Plate. Is there supposed to be 2 round contact plates as it looks like in the diagram picture?

Also... the diagram shows a Contact Brush coming up thru the steer wheel hole which I do Not have?

I have already found a few FoMoCo horn relays on eBay not exactly like mine but has your part numbers on them.

I'm only seeing the one contact plate in the drawing. It's just a drawing so it might be a bad guess on my part, but it might be trying to show part of the turn signal switch below the contact plate from that angle.

Horn Button Ring Contact Brush for 1960-74 Ford Trucks and Cars | Dennis Carpenter Ford Restorations (dennis-carpenter.com)

The spring loaded contact brush is what makes the temporary contact with the plate to complete the circuit. As @NumberDummy often recounted the little wire in the middle of the spring often breaks over time and the horn becomes sporadic or no longer works.

I noticed your steering wheel is also missing the insulator. I don't have a picture of one yet so I grabbed this from the interwebs. This shows the brush contact sticking out the bottom of the black plastic insulator.

Not all NOS parts are a dead match for any other particular part since Ford obsoleted and combined part numbers constantly.

I found a NEW FoMoCo "horn relay"
for a fair price on eBay with 100% on their feedbacks. Hoping the part actually works as it is supposed to
