vacuum advance question

Had to replace the vacuum advance on my 1973 F100, due to the diaphragm being totally disintegrated. I have the hose, coming out off the front of new one going to the port on the side of the carb, as seen in the photo.. But where does the hose nipple coming out of the top of the advance go, to the manifold vacuum tree at the rear of the intake? Or can I cap that fitting off?

I believe you can cap the top one off, I'm drawing a blank as to what you call it, but IIRC it's for retarding the timing when decelerating... ?

Yes. unless all your equipment is in working order you're best off to just run the advance hose to ported and forget it. I ditched all that garbage when they were new and I never did understand it, or wanted to.

I just put a can that was correct for a '76 on my '79's. .

The one I put on is the only one that was listed for breaker points for 1973. I've got the front hose to the ported fitting on the carb, and that other one capped, so should be good to go
