I know you've all seen benches made from old tailgates and I know some of you have one.
My sister saw this one in WV that has some things that I've never seen incorporated in a bench before. The builder used old bedsides for armrests and a 57 and up flare side short running boards for a place to set your drink.
I've got an old rusty bed and a pair of fenders from a 51/2 that have had the front half's modified for side mount spare, but the rear half is good for cutting off and making into a bench. Another of my projects waiting to be tended to. I have some left over composite decking from the house build I plan to use for the bed floor/seat area. It's been an idea in my head for years. Really just need to weld up some square tube for a base to have something to build to, but for me, that's the hard part.
Looks like the most uncomfortable piece of furniture I could ever imagine! Why not have steel spikes sticking through the tailgate to make it an acupuncture treatment center?
The back should be cushioned or padded, and the tailgate utilized at the lower horizontal surface for comfort.

I have the original Tail gate from my 49 and a perfect Tail gate from the 1969 F250 I use to have and always wanted to build benches and use them for the back.
