Race-Track Trim - thoughts and availability
Race-track Trim pieces and parts.
I see these pickups pass thru Pick-n-Pull yards often and some with nice Race Track Trim.
I was recently at PnP scrounging for a brake line that goes from MC to Prop Valve for my '77.
Operator-error struck again, and where the steel line separator had rubbed a thin spot on the hard line 3/32", the line fractured when I tried to slightly bend it to allow room for the Windshield Washer Reservoir. No Cheet, dang the luck.
Quickly here, I found that a line from an '84 F250 Diesel will interchange, after rebending to suit.
While at PnP, there was a '76 ? F250 std cab pickup with the full Race Track Trim.
I needed the passenger front upper wide fender trim that has the black rubber strip running the length of it.
For the whole time I've owned my pickup, the front 1-1/2" of that black rubber strip was missing. huh, no biggie.
What of these pieces are Not Reproduced ?
I am asking wondering if there is a demand for these individual trim pieces ?
Or is eBay flooded with them ?
The reason I ask is because I am happy to remove some for resale to those who need them.
I have never really looked into the demand for these. They are going to the crusher in droves.
Please share thoughts guys _ _ _
Thanks, Len
I haven't seen any full sized Bronco's locally in years. The door and front fender trim should interchange from Pickups.
(50 feet at 50 mph)

I thought I might someday sand and clean it up
but I really have taken a liking to having none.
Then, you have to be willing to ship it, which is a pain. I strap pieces I sell to a 1" thick board, wrap it in layers of cardboard, then into a box. Anything less, it will arrive damaged. That all takes time.
I used to sell a lot of the trim on eBay, but its hard to move it these days & it doesn't bring the $$ it used to. The J shaped racetrack pieces on the rear of the bed sell well if they are perfect, as well as the front fender lower trim. That lower front fender trim is a huge pain to ship due to the size.
Upper door & fender pieces you might get $25-30 a piece, same for the door lower racetrack. $20 a pair for cab corner trim. J trim maybe $40, $75 for fender lower racetrack. I don't mess with the bed trim, impossible to ship. You can ask more, & many folks are, but they hold it for years. I want to sell my stuff, so I price it so it actually sells. I've pretty much stopped buying the trim at swap meets to resell as there isn't enough $$$ in it anymore.
Thank you for your input. I must agree with you that the shipping on these fragile pieces is a risk. (the long ones).
Well, interesting thoughts on the value of the Trim. Every individual has varying 'needs', and budgets.
When I built-up my '77 Crew pickup back in 1996 thru 1998, parts for these CrewCabs were scarce.
Therefore, I never did expect to find "perfect" pieces, and was very happy to find USEABLE trim pieces.
I don't wish to pick pieces for resale, but my thoughts are, that IF I know of an individual who is seeking a Specific piece that can be reasonably shipped, I will see what I can do for them. Also, from what I've seen with my two eyes, are nice useable trim that a guy can be proud of, without being PERFECT.
When factory fresh, were all of these pieces Perfect in everyone's eyes ? Probably not.
I pulled the lower cab trim off of a '78 last year just because it was there. I believe it is two pieces that wrap around below the rear window glass. Those are up for grabs if someone needs them, and yes, they are 45-year old trim pieces, not New.
I have one request from a PM for the lower driver's door trim, so I will keep my eye out when visiting Pick-n-Pull.
One month the yard may not have any 73 to 79 pickups, and the next month they may have two or three.
Therefore, I'm kind of thinking Door and Front fender trim pieces that I may be willing to pull and ship. _ _ or not.
Are the Re-Pop trim pieces worth a Poop these days ?
