That’s the thing, they don’t seem to function well. Granted they are not on my truck (thankfully) to use every day and maybe form a different opinion, but the few times I have tried them out they just don’t seem very useful. The pockets are shallower than I like, which means I can’t get my foot deep in them and my knee wants to hit the side of the bed. And if having to reach farther into the bed they don’t seem to give a good footing and I’d be afraid my foot may slip out… especially if wet. With the extended running board I can place both of my feet squarely and securely on the running boards and accomplish the same thing, better. I think they were looking for “something new” rather than something actually useful to throw on the 23+ trucks. If they could make them deeper and more secure, and maybe have them fold out so when not in use they could be closed and not look hideous it would have been better. If they folded out to that could allow them to provide a larger footprint to stand on too… Maybe for the 25MY’s…

but there’s plenty of 23+ trucks that look a lot nicer than your truck……..

I agree there’s some color/grille combos I’m not a huge fan of but your truck is no looker in itself lol

if I had to rank the 17-24 trucks the 20-22 would be last in line. The 17-19s look better than them

I don't know if available after 22 but I have these on my 22 450 and they are awesome. I travel frequently with a fifth wheel and I can reach my hitch and king pin while on the extended part of the step bar. I would take these over that bed step any day.

I don’t like the look of your truck or your Mods either.

My truck is nothing special, just a stock SC XLT trimmed air defector, 295/70/18 Toyo M/Ts, no steps, OE mud flaps and red shock boots. It looks pretty good after it gets it’s once a year bath.

I dont want them. I have a roll up hard cover so I have no need.
When I ordered my 19 I got the tailgate step. I debated it as an old mans option...but these trucks are high... and Im an old man anyway... Im so glad I got the step. It works great and makes climbing in and out of the bed loading or unloading a breeze.
I have a 2022 at work with no steps anywhere. I just use the tire. But It does get scratched from going over the bedside.
One thing... I cant believe how light the aluminum tailgate without step is compared to my step gate.
I know its too costly but I just think all this kind of stuff should be optional.
Thats what makes ordering a truck ground up so much fun.
The more uniform they become the less I like it.

I am short , if would be handy, I have a 2021 F 250

I have the 2022 extended step rails like in the little picture in my sig. Having gotten used to the truck and specifically ordered it with the longer steps and the in-the-tailgate step, I'm happy with getting what I asked for.

I think those who dislike the bed steps have two primary reasons. 1) They aren't pretty. 2.) They are not ideally positioned for egress into the bed, being too high and too "close in." As stated above, you can't get enough of your foot onto the step. The ergonomics of the longer step rail appeals to me, and I like the way they look, so I'm in agreement with those in the pre-22 tribe.

In the OP's picture there is a fold-away step under the bed step, and I suspect that would appeal to a number of folks since it solves the ergonometric problem.

Both the bedside and bumper steps are 100% functional. I use them both multiple times / day. And, I’ve been in the thick mud several times, slinging it forwards and backwards, and the bedside steps have stayed relatively clean (can’t say the same for my actual entry steps). So I think they’re located in good spots, and I think they blend in with the design, especially on black or silver trucks. I think they improve the overall use of the truck - isn’t that what it’s all about?

You must have a 20-22

The 17-19 just have a presence to them that got softened up with the little angular cut on the front grill & headlights in 2020. Not as nice looking. Not bad looking but just not as good as the 17-19

at the end of the day they’re all just hunks of metal, rubber, plastic & glass that are here to do a job

2020-2022 have 10 speeds, 7.3’s and still have the bigger front ring gear.

The 7.3 is certainly better than the gas option before it when it comes to capability. I had a 6.2 f250 and while it was (and still is a solid truck) it left a little to be desired. So that’s about the only plus for the 20+ trucks. But if I’m towing substantial I’m using the diesel anyways which is gonna pull anything in any 17+ truck

the front axle is no true benefit. I use my trucks and regardless of the front axle from 17 onward there’s no issue with strength. If I did have a 24 I’d swap out for selectable hubs on both sides though

I had a 21 but I always wished they never softened up the front end look and lowered it down. The other minor thing was the tailgates on the 17-19s looked nicer too. Loved the way the 17-19s were better that’s all

I would have preferred they just make the side step rails extend a little farther back. Would have been more useful. Or do both for that matter. The one in the bumper is useful.

I'm 5'10" and could really use the steps. I'm all function over form. I'm looking for a rear bumper with steps. Anyone want to trade?

With 22- trucks get the AMP steps for the front bedside and rear bumper corner. They are much more usable than the 23+ factory steps.

I tried the bed steps on a 24 that a neighbor had as a rental and I had the same impression. I'm sure it works for many people but getting heavy things in and out with these things take getting some used to. I ended up just stepping on the tire later on.
