Some people approach personal maintenance costs like they have a fleet of vehicles. The tens of dollars saved is times 1. Can never go wrong with factory. All of their IOLM’s, maintenance schedules, etc. are based off their filters and lubricants.
From reading numerous threads here, on other forums, on oil websites, and on owners groups. So you got 288k miles and there are ten other guys with issues that had been running Rotella. I will believe you and ignore them.
So Ford should remove Shell Rotella T6 from their approved oil list for the 6.7PSD based on this owners group? Even though Ford has all this high tech testing equipment in their laboratory that they used to qualify and approve oils for the 6.7PSD that you're referring too!
Claim? Are you suggesting Ford Motor Company does not have labratories where they test filters, fluids, oils, etc? Get outta' here. Even you aren't that dumb.
Rotella is the cheapest oil on the shelf. I suppose that's just a coincidence, right?
I'm not suggesting that at all, but you might assume Rotella doesn't.......... lol

I was thinking the exact same thing. My handy dandy service history in the Ford Pass app says that I paid $26.13/gal from my local Walmart back in Feb. And it was not the cheapest thing on the shelf...by far.

Wait, you can put that in the Ford Pass App? I just did my last oil change at the dealership and finished using my points so now I will be doing them myself.

Haha - before the update, yes, you could drop all of the info in the app. But when they updated this last go'round, that functionality is gone via the app. Now you have to do it online - and I'm not sure you can upload receipts anymore... new update, crapier results. This is what happens when developers don't have real world users provide feedback on functionality.

When I had diesels (CTD or PS), I always went T-6. Only time I didn't have T-6 in them, was when the PS had an oil pan gasket leak and the dealer used Motorcraft oil (or whatever they use). Man, was that engine NOISY (even the wife noticed and wondered if the engine was ok). I changed oil early and it quieted right down.
For gas, it's been either Mobil 1 or Amsoil.
