Just took delivery of a 2024 F350 Lariat. Got home and noticed the right side tailgate hinge is missing paint. Looks sloppy in my opinion, and I expect better from a $90,000 truck. Called my sales guy about it, and he proceeds to tell me they are all like that. Frankly I didn't believe him, so I paid him a visit, and he found another one on the lot that also wasn't painted to prove it's 'normal'. Just because he found one other one, I still have a hard time believing him.
Are other guys tailgate hinges unpainted? And not like it's intentionally unpainted like it was masked off before painting. Just looks like it didn't get sprayed completely. I'd like to ask the dealer to paint it to match as a warranty issue, but I have a feeling he's going to push back since his sales guy found another one like it.

This is on my 23. I think it’s normal and never thought much about it since this cylinder where it rotates in the joint is going to be worn over time and eventually wear the paint down. Mine wasn’t painted either.
I just looked at my 23. It almost appears to be a nylon or similar material bushing. If so, why would it be painted?
Repeated opening/closing would only wear away paint if it were metal on metal, which doesn't seem likely.
I was thinking the same thing... Sounds like someone playing a joke on your guys that get wound up over the tinniest items on your truck.... I could not tell you what color my hinges are or even if they are painted. If true. I hope the stealership laughs real hard at this one.
