rough running engine

the engine in my 77 f350 dual wheel box truck is a 330 fe and it runs rough at idle and seems to get somewhat better at highway speeds.it had just had a full tune up before i bought it,i pulled all the plugs and they looked good and the cap looks new,any suggestions on what to check? this is my first ford 70's truck

A carb kit might help a little bit, or adjust the timing a little bit.

sounds like it needs an idle adjustment
what state are you in? is it possible that someone tuned it to pass emissions, and now it needs to be tuned to run right?
