2015 F150 Lariat, trying to get my TPMS working. At first one tire didn't show on display, then two. I figured the TPMS batteries were going dead. Bought new F2GZ-1A189-A Motorcraft off ebay, installed but couldnt get them to train. push button to "ON", flashers on/off 3 times to initiate train, I used the let the air out method, then the click button tool. Still does not see them.I then looked on the packages of sensors and saw a 2017 date of manufacture. Seems to me that even though 7 years old just on the shelf they should'a still worked. Am I wrong?
Please offer any insight.
The two things mentioned here will prevent them from working, however, starting in 2015 with the new TPMS sensors, you no longer need to train them. They are auto learning after driving for a while. I had a 2016 that I would swap tires with summer/winter, never trained them, yet always worked.
It depends on what you mean by "train". My wife's Escape has a non-specific TPMS system. There is a single Low Tire icon on the display. If it comes on, you have to check to see which tire is low. Therefore it doesn't matter which wheel is in any particular position. My F150 has a specific TPMS system. It displays the tire pressure of each individual tire and in the case of a low tire, it indicates on the dash display which tire is low. If you rotate your tires, you have to use one of the two available methods to "train" the system to know which tire (and sensor) is in which location.
