Has anyone had problems with the electric folding mirrors?
Mine were fine for the 18 months, then the right mirror would squeak and groan and move very slowly during folding and unfolding. Towing extension and retraction worked fine. Replaced under warranty.
Good for another 15 months. Same mirror, same problem. Replaced under warranty at a different dealer.
15 months later same problem, but both mirrors, and warranty has expired.
I spoke with the service manager who did the initial replacement in late 2021. He said he recalls being told by the factory that replacement will not correct the problem, but they didn't say what the solution is. A search of the forums for mirrors turned up nothing. Anyone have experience with this?
My drivers mirror started giving me fits a few weeks ago. Slow moving sometimes and sometimes won't open or close all the way. But sometimes it works fine.
The dealer or whom you had replace it may or probably have used factory knock offs. My ford dealer uses generic parts all the time. Ford lets them in many situations. Or they could of just repaired it instead.
I open and close mine at least once a day when I pull in the garage and haven't had any issues like you mention.
I close mine every time I park or pull in the garage. I also run my steering column through its full range of motion weekly. I had a 2014 F350 and never had an issue with the mirrors.

Maybe, but the OEM that were on the truck new is where it all started.
Mine work 99% of the time. I don't use them a lot though. If I do have an issue, it is usually the passenger side that decides not to fold all the way in. It does make a different, sad sounding noise when folding sometimes. not long for this world I'm thinking.
I fold and unfold mine daily sometime multiple times a day. They fold at slightly different speeds. The drivers side is slower than the passenger side and occasionally the driver side will not close smoothly but will kinda stutter as it closes.
Is this a lube that might reduce the load on the motor? I've thought about some teflon spray on the plastic contact points, but haven't applied it yet out of fear of how it would affect the plastic or accumulate dirt..

The first dealer I took it to had an "inexperienced" tech put lithium grease on the contact points. I mentioned it to the SA who was apologetic and had the grease cleaned. He said it was not the proper fix. 🤔
Sometimes my right side doesn't come in. They both make noise to varying degrees. I have mine set to auto fold when the truck gets locked. Not enough of an issue to drag it to the dealer yet. The auto fold on lock helps me as I can see I locked it at a glance. I'm older, I forget too easily.

The knock offs are so hard to tell from oem. I almost bought one after I damaged mine. I was lucky to find someone who took off new oem's to build custom work or armor type trucks.
I haven't had issues with power fold from Ford for years. The first one's had bad gears this was years ago.
All the ones I've owned since like my 2016,2019, 2024 function good. Except when snow turned to solid ice they don't want to expand.
