As title suggests work truck is an 2022 with the 6.7, though this is its second engine now. At roughly 170,000KM the CP4 fuel pump crapped out and took the original engine with it, of course out of warranty.
Now with this second engine the truck does not run the same. Engine coolant doesn’t get up to normal operating temperatures, gauge is 30-40% at most on a nice summer day with a trailer.
The truck at times also burns anywhere from 70-100% more fuel then the original engine. Not long after I got the truck back with the second engine the battery smoked and boiled itself, needing a replacement. A few days ago I’ve had “Battery charging services system now” come up on dash.
As of now this is being brushed off as “the truck is going to burn fuel anyways”
I do have pictures of the horrible fuel economy, which is 30l/100km empty trailer mainly flat grounds..
To further add to the post, apologies about being all over the place with my post here, when the engine got put back together it needed further diagnosis which lead to leaking fuel injectors

in my case, a wire had to be by passed with a new wire. The original wire ether melts or gets eaten by corrosion.
the wire is inside a harness and rather than ripping the harness apart, ford solution is to by pass it.
as far as your replacement engine not performing to expectations…was it a rebuild, junk yard pull, does not sound like it was a new ford long block.
Makes sense there was smoke coming from battery wires, the main solution was to replace the battery and continue to see if problem occurs.
Main reason I bring this up is from another thread a technician was asking about charging/battery system due to injectors failing. Wasn’t much more on that.
Was a complete new long block from ford with new injectors. Appreciate the feed back
Faulty thermostat, thermostat missing? That fuel consumption is double the normal value, can’t believe it’s doing the cylinder walls any good, or the emissions equipment either.
long block with bad injectors and now new injectors.
when was the last time fuel filters were changed with OEM filters.
How long ago and is the work under warranty?
How far apart are the regen cycles? Pipes black or grayish? how much def do you use?
To clarify this is a work truck to which the company used their own licensed mechanic. He is stumped on the situation and not inclined to look further into. (Says to not pay attention to fuel economy lol)
Mechanic says all new fuel filters, at times the def can burn I did have def fill light come on thinking I had plenty of range.
It was a gong show to say the least took roughly 6 months to get the truck back on the road with new engin, mainly to mechanic not being available.
As far as I know new engine is covered with warranty to 150,000KM..
cheers!

I have doubt it is faulty thermo stat, it takes twice as long for the engine to warm up and will get to 40% temporary pulling trailer.
It burning twice the fuel cringes me as I do hotshotting and fuel is the biggest expense.
