Ok everyone here is the update.
Truck would not idle but runs fine with the gas on it.
Duraspark 2 system, factory unmodified.
Resistance wire allegedly removed by others, claimed 9 volts to coil wasn't enough and ran great when applying straight 12 so added 12 constant.
Make half mile down the road and truck dies in my lot at idle.
iginition wire self ejected itself due to coil overheating and pushing oil.
Put in same coil new, bout 30 minutes in same deal.
Put in blue streak coil, plug doesn't pop off but overheats.
On cold start this morning truck will not idle and carb backfired once, big smoke.
No ballast resistor was added, straight 12v to the coil in key on position, this seems wrong to me from what I know.
Iginition system, plug wire and coil ran fine before engine swap for about a year.
Thoughts?

Swapped duraspark box this morning, starts and idles fine, coil maintaing cool temp. Drove around town for an hour no issues. Also changed fuel filter.
Has anyone had Durasparks melt their coils?
