For safety reasons, I want to add disc brakes on my 1949 Ford F1. I want to keep things stock as much as possible but add a few upgrades such as front disc brakes. Has anyone used this Speedway kit? It says it's a bolt-on upgrade using your stock spindles so it looks simple enough. If switching to disc in the front do I need to upgrade the stock master cylinder as well? If so, can you all provide a good replacement master cylinder? I need to either rebuild or replace it anyway. This truck has been sitting for long long time.
Just a heads up and my experience and opinion only, your results will vary. Speedway is large discounter of car parts with the inherit possibility of problems.
On one occasion I had ordered a box of straight exhaust pipe and they sent me the wrong size. After much picture taking and communication they admitted their error but were hesitant to refund the shipping charges. I offered to keep the wrong size (I could use it) without a refund and pay for the right size if they shipped it at no charge. They agreed as it was in their favor. . On another occasion I had a problem and they absolutely refused a refund. Fortunately I had used Pay Pal and filled a dispute and I received the refund.
I think what separates a good company from a not so good one is how they solve a customers problems. I expected better after the sale service so I do not buy from Speedway anymore. Buyer beware.

Absolutely you must change the master cylinder to a dual circuit type that's designed to work with front disc brakes. One from a 60's-70's full size Ford with front disc brakes should work and you will need an adapter plate to convert the bolt patterns. You may find adding a power booster will be helpful, too, and can all be incorporated together. There are aftermarket kits to help with that conversion.
Everyone's experiences can be different. On two occasions Speedway sent me the wrong size item. I contacted them both times, and they let me keep the one they first shipped and sent me the replacement at no charge. I have had good customer service from them even if their order puller must be new!!
