Help decoding older canadian F600 VIN number.
I've attached the picture of the Tag attached on the Truck, driver side door frame.
The tag does not give a year when it was built and we have a war going on in this house as to what the true year of built is. 1980 or 1982? Registry says 1980, not sure how they figured that out, but that's what's on the registration papers.
So what is it? What can you tell me about the information on the sticker of the truck?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!
Why doesn't it show the build year on that sticker? Is there a place in the engine compartment or on the frame somewhere to verify the year?
Thanks.
H = 370--all flavors: 2V or 4V, Low compression 2V or 4V, LP gas 2V or 4V. LP gas was a DSO and your truck is a special order. You should have an emissions sticker or other info on the engine or core support.
V = Kentucky Truck Plant
HG1220 = Serial number for 1980 model year.
153 = 153 inch wheelbase
No paint code, probably part of the special order although there are plenty of dark blue metallic paints that are regular order items.
F607 = F600 gas, 21,200 lbs GVWR
AB8
AB = I do not have the decoder ring for '80 but this is black vinyl in all years prior
8 = Regular Cab, cab and chassis vehicle. (vs. Custom Cab)
A = New Process model NP435 four speed transmission
F34
F3 = Eaton model 15201 two speed rear axle, 15,000 lbs capacity, 6.33 / 8.81 ratios
4 = Ford 7,000 lb capacity front axle without power steering\
B69567
B6 = Ford of Canada, Western (Ford) District Sales Office
9567 = Special Order Number
No info is available as to what that was unless, like two lucky recent contestants, you find the build sheet in the seat springs and you can read it.
The serial numbers tell the year of manufacture up until the 17 digit VIN comes into play starting in model year 1981. That's why you can't find it as you have to look elsewhere for the 11 digit and most of the time they draw blanks on medium trucks.
The certification label you posted started in the late '70s and became THE label for '81, showing VIN, axle ratings. tire size etc for more complete info. Probably under Federal Motor Vehicle standards.
Don't fret none about posting. Much of the cab interchanges with the smaller trucks and they look the same--kinda.
