So I have been trying to get this Excursion on the road and been chasing electrical gremlins left and right. I believe the harness has corrosion in it and causing all kinds of problems. The harness I used was stored inside a shed but outside for about 10 years. So alot of the pins have light corrosion on them. I've used Deoxit and tried to clean all the pins as best I could but this is getting old. I found another complete harness local, but it's from a 2002 excursion. Mine is a 2000, both are 7.3's I know the fuse box is different but I am told it will plug into my frame connectors and computer fine. I don't want to drop that much money on a different harness too find out it won't work. It's kind of expensive but I need this truck running as it's going to be used for work. Can anyone verify this 2002 7.3 harness will work in a 2000 7.3? Or possibly know a place to source one? All I can find is engine harness and I feel mine is good since the engine was stored inside.
Before the plug on the driver side of the engine? Or after the plug on the driver side of the engine?
If you are using it before the plug, the 2002 harness will not work. The under hood fuse box was combined with the in cab fuse box and moved into the cab. The engine harness is the engine harness and it's all the same. The other difference is the battery and starter harness. On the '02 trucks, the starter solenoid on the passenger fender was eliminated.
The person selling the harness said he has the complete harness. Will it plug into and work with the 2000 ECU and the IDM? The new plan would be to swap everything but the actual engine harness an computers. And if I could retain my rear frame harness that would be good to.
