...well I am beginning to tire from constant problems it seems.................First time I thought of selling my truck because of a problem................actually many problems over the years........
Truck was running fine , now it will not start , & may not be getting spark ...........So very discouraging ...........
You will get more for it if not burnt
Just think being it is old you can fix it and get to everything.
This new stuff unless you have a computer and software that can talk to the car / truck you cant even know what is wrong with it.
Then try and get to the part that is bad to swap it out
Is this truck on the road and if so how many miles a day you put on it or the weekeknd?

it's always something, the only other option is to buy new with a warranty. you can fix a lot on your truck for what a few months of a new truck payments would be.
It's not a secret that the quality of replacement parts now is pretty unreliable. Anything made in China is especially suspect. I cringe everytime I see one of those Chinese HEI distributors and the points and condensers they make aren't any better.
Well I sincerely thank-you all , really............
Have not touched truck since , taking a break , I got extremely frustrated because I am afraid the fancy electronic PERTRONIX billet distributor module MAY have got fried/zapped
I AM NOT GOING TO BURN ANYTHING ....................yet.......... Just
suffering from severe disappointment
Will slightly fouled plugs keep motor from starting ??? I have strong spark from coil . No spark when I ground plug & crank it I do not see how I could have zapped the module .
I must recheck all my ignition wiring in cab & under hood ,maybe clean or replace plugs , but they do not look fouled , just electrode very slightly dark , and maybe a minuscule amount of oil on one plug . Only checked 1 plug !!!!!!!!!
YOUR CONCERN & ADVICE IS EXPONENTIALLY WELCOMED & APPRECIATED...............
Ok so if you pull the coil wire from the dist. cap and hold it 1/8" from the motor / ground you get a bunch of sparks when cranking right?
So you put that wire back in the dist. cap and pulled a wire from a plug and put a spare plug in the wire and held it to ,motor / ground you get a lot less sparks but it should still spark.
If you get spark at the coil wire to ground but do not get a spark at plug wire to ground then you need to pull the dist. cap and start checking things.
Spark has to go from the center of the cap out to the other wires thru the rotor.
Is the rotor installed or you forget to put it back when checking something?
If rotor is in place pull it and look it over really really good to see if spark is going to ground thru the rotor and not to the plugs in the cap.
Also check the cap for spark tracing from the center to ground on the under side of the cap.
