A lot of people are having their drivetrains going out around 50K or so on the '04s, and I am in the group that has had problems with the whine, leaking fluid, and the clutch packs. I noticed that Toyota decides to fix these things when their owners make online petitions. We should expect no less from Ford, so I propose we start an online petition to get these fixed, even out of warranty. Does anybody else think this is a good idea or know how to do it? Also, is this just the Limited Slip (LS) axles that do this, or has anybody else had a problem with a non-LS?
Basically, I am tired of seeing people here fighting these problems individually with dealers, and instead, think we should be trying to get these major and widespread problems addressed as a group. If Ford doesn't listen, we can go to the media with the petition signed by all the folks with the problems, and we stop buying their trucks. This will make Ford more accountable, which will lead to a better product, and happier customers.
you see the whining more because no one logs in every day to say "hey, i just drove another 50 miles and no problems!". if the reality was as bad as it seems from this forum, then all of the f150's on the road would be pulled over to the side not running... there are a few issues with these trucks, but nothing insane. spark plugs, IWE solenoid, and a few isolated cases of trannys being rough or rear ends being off. I wouldn't be surprised if some of these trucks weren't used for way bigger loads than they're supposed to handle...
I have had no drivetrain problems. I would definitely like to get some spark plug stuff figured out. That is a source of frustration for me that does not seem to pass.
Sorry to hear you are experiencing difficulty with your truck. But we aren't allowed to use FTE to promote these type of actions. Thanks for your understanding.
