My 59 has had some issues starting (just a click) then trying it again it will turn over
ive replaced the solenoid? Between the battery and starter but am curious if this part (which I cannot identify) is part of the problem thanks in advance
Check all the battery connections especially the ground. Also make sure the battery is fully charged. In my opinion if it clicks the starter solenoid is good but I could be wrong.

Yes check ALL BATTERY connections and dont throw out the old solenoid as that was not the issue 99%of the time.
The new solenoids are junk and dont last and even more so if you bought the cheapest, and thats what you get if you dont ask for a top of the line one.
Now I say 99% of the time.
I had the same issue on my 81 F100 with a 300 six.
All new battery cables as part of the cab off frame rebuild, run just like the factory had them.
Every so often I would get a click a few time then it would start.
I cleaned every connection again just to make sure and it was worst so I bought top of the line NAPA solenoid and never an issue again.
So yes that 1% it could be a bad solenoid but most it is a connection.

Found the positive lead to the battery was loose but did check all grounds as well
ow I’m driving the truck and I get intermittent loss of engine and she bucks as a result. Any thoughts?
I have pulled the distributor cap and cleaned off the six leads plus wiped the top of the rotor. Any suggestions
thanks
I also did a 4 year cab off frame rebuild of my 81 F100 flare side and I ran everything like the factory had and had no issues other than the old solenoid I reused.
So just driving down the road the motor shuts off like someone turned the key off or something else?
So going over the grounds you have battery to motor, motor to frame (81 dose frame then to top bolt of starter) and motor to cab (motor to firewall).
With the grounds run like that power should have a full path from / to battery.
If it just cuts out I would look at the IGN system as we know the grounds are good.
Are you still running points or a kit to replace them?
As a test I would "hot wire" the coil so the IGN is powered up all the time and see if it cuts out.
If it dose not cut out hot wired then I would say the problem is either power to the switch or from the switch to coil.
If it cuts out it would have to be from coil to dist.

ps when running move the wiring to the coil and dist. and see if it cuts out.

thank you. I will try my best and follow your details
I had an issue with a 302 distributor. The internal ground wire would short as the vacuum advanced. I replaced it with a factory braided one and no more issues

An easy test is to remove the hose to the vacuum advance and test drive.
If it dose not cut off then yes look inside the dist.
