Question "73 Powersteering Whoah's

Accidently

Hello, I have a 1973 F250 Camper Special (2WD).

My son and my dad got it running for me again while I was at work (my son hurt it bad somehow a couple years ago), but while driving it back to my house, my son blew the power steering lines.

I ordered the two hard ended pressure lines, but I do not know what size diameter I need to order for the low-pressure line. Is it a basic 3/8" hose or a different size?

After the steering is working again, I'll be back for some guidance on rebuilding a NP manual transmission (Mine works, but it is getting noisy, and the clutch is chattering like mad).

Thank you ..

just go to the parts house and get some 3/8 oil hose. most of it is marked transmission cooler hose these days.

Good luck on the NP435, most of the parts you can buy are imported junk. my rebuild kit was a disaster so I'm running a good used transmission now while I piece together NOS parts to try it again.

Almost all of the parts you'll get in any kit are imported. all the new stop rings I could find are made in India and total crap , it's not the vendor's fault that's all you can buy.

I bought a Novak kit, its junk. it shifted like crap so after the rebuild I pulled it and took it to a top-notch transmission guy , he told me there's nothing he could promise me with the garbage parts we have to work with. and he was right it was still a pain to drive so I put a used transmission back in.

my advice is if it ain't broke don't fix it. and if you do try to get NOS parts. and if you can't roll the dice and hope for the best. good luck

I think I'll drive it like it is (except I am going to drop it to change the clutch and get the flywheel turned (and probably flip the ring gear) .. The clutch chatter is getting rough and makes driving in the snow pretty sketchy.

I didn't think the hose was special, just wasn't sure of the size .. I'm hitting the parts store tomorrow for some engine cleaner, RTV for the kid's Escort, and a wad of 3/8 hose .. Probably more because who doesn't like walking the isles of a parts store ..
