Excursions not holding their value!!
Has anyone seen evidence of Excursions not holding their value?
I have a 00 limited 2wd diesel with 21k mi on it and I'm ready to sell it, and it looks as though I'm going to take a real beating. I'm getting very little response from ads in the paper. The local dealers all tell me they can't get rid of the ones they have.In todays paper they have 2 for sale besides mine:
00 XLT 24,995.00 and 00 Limited 26,995.00 even with V-8's "that's cheap". I never had this problem with my Crew Cab PSD's.

I just tried to trade mine in on a new vehicle and was told they called 2 different dealers and were told the truck was only worth $20,000!!!! I have a '00 Limited fully loaded 4x4 ... now I new I was going to take a hit because I have 39,000 miles on it but $20K ... c'mon! Even CarMax only offered $22,000.

No way!! Your X should bring at least 35,000.00. Somebody at ford needs to explain this type of economics to me. I'm considering having to keep mine. I'm not going to give it away. What do you think is driving these prices? I wish I was buying instead of selling.I'll probably wait until 2002 to replace it with a crew cab PSD.

There's nothing comparable on the road. I could never step down to a lesser vehicle from my 4x4 diesel limited. Just bought my wife a new Sequoia...nice ride, too small for a big guy like me.
You always take a loss on new vehicles. You lose 10% just driving it off the lot. We lost 30% on a 99 Acura. Get over it.

Actually, $27k for a used limited gasser seems "in the ballpark". Many of us were able to take advantage of 2.9%@60month financing, so subtract the fin charge savings in just the first year from the purchase price of about $34k (gasser!!) and you have somewhere in 10-20% depreciation range over 2 model years. Not to mention accellerated depreciation schedule for business use of a heavy vehicle for some. Park your Excursion next to a Lexus or a Cadillac and ask the first 100 people you see who has the most expensive vehicle. Then smile!!!
